The Hope Ranch integrates evidence-based clinical therapies with holistic healing modalities — because lasting recovery requires treating every dimension of the person. Browse every therapy we offer below.
— Our Approach
Addiction does not only affect the brain — it affects the body, the nervous system, the emotions, the relationships, and the sense of who you are. Treatment that addresses only the behavior misses the root. At The Hope Ranch, we treat the whole person — because that is the only approach that produces lasting change.
That means combining evidence-based therapies like CBT and DBT with holistic modalities like equine therapy, yoga, and sound healing. Not as separate add-ons, but as a unified, integrated program where each element reinforces the others.

— The Foundation of Care
One-on-one sessions with a licensed therapist create the safe, confidential space where the deepest recovery work happens. Each client receives a full psychological evaluation upon admission — identifying underlying conditions, trauma history, and co-occurring disorders — then an ongoing individual therapy schedule tailored entirely to their needs and goals.
— Evidence-Based Therapies
These therapies have the strongest clinical evidence base for addiction and co-occurring mental health treatment. Every modality is delivered by licensed, credentialed clinicians.
Daily Sessions
Recovery is not a solo process. Group therapy creates the peer accountability, shared experience, and communication practice that supports lasting sobriety. Sessions meet daily and cover relapse prevention, emotional regulation, stress management, and rebuilding relationships. Peer-to-peer learning provides real-world solutions that complement professional guidance.
Weekly Sessions
Addiction fractures families — and recovery must rebuild them. Our family therapist leads weekly sessions with clients and their loved ones, working to rebuild trust, improve communication, and create a home environment that supports long-term sobriety. Family therapy begins during residential care, not after discharge. The whole family heals.
Identity & Story
Addiction is often intertwined with deeply ingrained negative stories — shame, hopelessness, failure. Narrative therapy is a collaborative, non-pathologizing approach that separates the person from the problem and helps clients rewrite the story they tell about themselves. At The Hope Ranch, it is a powerful tool for rebuilding identity and purpose beyond addiction.
Unique to Hope Ranch
Addiction strips away identity and direction. The Purpose Project invites every residential client to identify and pursue a meaningful personal goal during treatment — building something, starting a garden, learning a skill, completing a creative project. Clinically designed to restore self-worth, identity, and a sense of direction beyond sobriety.
— Holistic Modalities
Evidence-based therapy addresses the mind. Holistic therapies address the body, the nervous system, and the spirit. At The Hope Ranch, both are clinical tools — not alternatives to each other, but complements. Our COO Maggie Scotto found lasting recovery through holistic healing and built these modalities into the program because she knows firsthand that they work.
Experiential · Somatic
Horses respond to human emotional states with immediate, honest feedback — bypassing the cognitive defenses that block progress in traditional therapy. Builds emotional regulation, trust, boundaries, and self-awareness. Facilitated by trained therapists and equine specialists. No prior horse experience needed. A daily presence on our 10-acre ranch.
Learn More →Movement · Breathwork · Mindfulness
Yoga begins every morning at The Hope Ranch — not as exercise, but as a clinical tool. Trauma-informed yoga regulates the nervous system, rebuilds the relationship with the body, reduces anxiety, and develops the present-moment awareness that is foundational to sustained sobriety. Led by Maggie Scotto, certified by an Ashram Yoga Guru in India.
Learn More →Mindfulness · Nervous System
Guided meditation is an evidence-based practice that reduces cravings, manages stress, and builds the mindfulness that supports long-term recovery. At The Hope Ranch, it is woven into the daily schedule — not scheduled as a weekly session. Clients learn to pause from the noise of their thoughts and develop inner stillness that carries beyond the ranch.
Learn More →Physical · Dopamine · Structure
Physical fitness plays a critical evidence-based role in addiction recovery — restoring the brain's dopamine system, reducing depression and anxiety, improving sleep, and rebuilding the discipline and structure that sobriety requires. The Hope Ranch fitness program is tailored to every client's level and integrated into the daily structure of treatment.

These modalities reflect Maggie Scotto's personal recovery journey and professional training. They address the dimensions of healing that traditional treatment systems consistently overlook.
Sound healing uses frequency, vibration, and resonance — through instruments including singing bowls and tuning forks — to reduce stress, lower cortisol, ease anxiety, and support the nervous system regulation that underlies all other healing. Maggie Scotto is a certified Sound Healing practitioner and leads these sessions personally at The Hope Ranch.
Included in ResidentialReiki is a gentle energy-based healing practice that supports relaxation, reduces stress, and promotes a sense of balance and inner peace. Particularly effective for clients managing anxiety, trauma residue, and the emotional dysregulation that accompanies early recovery. Maggie Scotto is a certified Reiki practitioner and integrates this into the program alongside clinical therapies.
Included in ResidentialBeyond equine therapy, The Hope Ranch is home to donkeys, goats, and chickens — and daily interaction with these animals is part of life on the ranch. Animal-assisted healing reduces isolation, builds empathy, and provides a sense of routine responsibility that supports the behavioral foundations of recovery. It is not a program — it is simply life here.
Daily Ranch Life— Integration
The most important thing about our therapy program is not any single modality — it is how they work together. Each therapy reinforces and deepens the others, creating a layered, whole-person healing experience that no single approach can achieve alone.
CBT and individual therapy identify the thought patterns, trauma, and triggers that drive addictive behavior.
The horse's response to a client's emotional state bypasses defenses and makes abstract patterns concrete and immediate.
The nervous system learns to reset. Anxiety reduces. Sleep improves. The body becomes an asset instead of an obstacle.
Recovery that doesn't include the family system leaves the most powerful relapse triggers unaddressed. We involve families from day one.
Having something meaningful to work toward — a goal that is yours — is the final piece that makes sobriety worth maintaining.

Maggie Scotto · COO & Co-Founder
— Built From Experience
"The clinical therapy gave me tools. But what actually healed me was the yoga, the breathwork, the animals, the meditation — learning to feel again without fear. I built this program around the things that worked for me, because I spent years in programs that only treated the symptom."
